Code of Conduct Officials & Volunteers

The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below.

All volunteers must:

•Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.

•Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.

•Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.

•Promote the positive aspects of karate (eg healthy, recreational, past time and sporting activity for all).

•Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.

•Follow all guidelines laid down by the National Governing Body and the club.

•Hold appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.

•Never exert undue influence over participants to obtain personal benefit or reward.

•Never condone rule violations, interference with others’ enjoyment of angling or the use of prohibited substances.

•Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results.

•Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers`

•Encourage your child to learn the rules and to obey them.

•Discourage unsportsman like behaviour and arguing with officials.

•Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.

•Never force your child to take part in sport/karate.

•Set a good example by recognising sportsmanlike behaviour and applauding good performances of all.

•Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.

•Publicly accept officials' judgments.

•Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their karate.

•Use correct and proper language at all times.

•Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

 Members Code of Conduct

TSKR is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with TSKR

As a member of TSKR you are expected to abide by the following Junior Code of Conduct:

•All members must obey the rules and respect officials and their decisions.

•All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

•Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to be late.

•Members must wear suitable clothing/footware for training and match sessions, as agreed with the Instuctor/Team Manager.

•Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly.

•Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.

•Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.

Equity Policy

•This club is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity:

•Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognizing inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.

•The club respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.

•The club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.

•All club members have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity.

•The club will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour seriously, according to club disciplinary
