Czechs in the City
Czechs in the City
Karate students from all over the UK gathered at Stanstead Airport on May 2nd for the Annual trip to the Czech Republic. Students and Instructors from Watford, Dereham, Norwich, Blackpool, Leeds met with the SKIF branch from Czech Republic in the City of Brno.
This was an eventful weekend with Instructors Sensei Ann Hastings 6th dan, Kevin Leigh 5th dan, Ivor Garner 5th dan, Terry Wittkopp 4th dan & Lucie Marsh 4th dan
teaching to students from all over the country.
This was an extremely difficult task but the universal language of japans karate terminology did make me understand why really need to teach in Japanese in the UK.
Karate lessons started at 10am through til 5pm. A very long day, for everyone. Only a few short breaks and a fantastic spread of food was laid on by our hosts for everyone.
Czech students have a very good standard and impressed everyone with there commitment and strength of techniques.
No matter what grade you were, there was something to learn for everyone.
New Drill Training, kata such as the new Gankau Sho that Kanazawa has introduced and recapping over other kata that sometimes we think we know it , until Sensei Hastings spins it on its head.
Vit Stencil the Club Instructor and our host for the weekend was a good translator and without him and his students help, it would not have been possible to enjoy the long weekend to its fullest.
The Czechs made very good hosts and we are extremely thankful for there hospitality.
It was an eventful weekend which did not leave much time to sit around and wonder what to do. There were trips to the City of Brno, many restaurants, Castles and Vineyards
Did I mention pubs and clubs,,,, well if you wish to know about that maybe next year you should tag along.
A day trip to Vienna Austria was an awesome experience.
Anyone who hasn`t visited these two countries must do so; there is always something to see or do.
There are beautiful scenic views and the architecture is second to none.
Czech people are very respectful people and anyone visiting there must be honourable to there values and traditions.
We have to thank them all for the experience we had. Maybe next year we will do it all over again.
I may have missed a lot of things out of this report. I did so on purpose….
You got to go to experience it yourself …. Roll on next year….. Czechs in the post!!!!!!
